| 초록 | The global mushroom industry has increased rapidly in terms of beneficial effects, marketing value and its demand in recent years. India has a wide range of diverse agro-climatic conditions and largely an agricultural country with generating about 620 million tons of agro-wastes annually. Mushroom cultivation is not only helps in recycling of agro wastes but also filling up the nutritional gap. Recently Indian government policy and creative innovation has promoted the researchers and entrepreneur towards the mushroom production. In recent scenario unemployed has tempted to adopt mushroom cultivation as a self-employment option and as their profession. It is high time that Indian mushroom growers and consumers should have awareness of the qualities of mushrooms, particularly the nutritional and medicinal aspect. The total mushroom production in India between 2010 and 2017 is approximately 0.13 million tons accounting for an increase in average growth rate of mushroom by 4.3% per annum. In particular, the total white button mushroom production stands first with a share of about 73%. Considering the importance of production of mushrooms in industrial scale, the current review article was attempted to analyze the current scenario of the mushroom industry in India and its importance in their growth. | ||
